Who We AreOn May 24, 2015 Bernie Sanders, Independent from Vermont and lifelong socialist declared his candidacy for President. He chose to run as a nominee for the Democratic Party and his neighbors in southern New England joined the political revolution.
In our congressional district - these efforts paid off. Voter turnout in Connecticut's 5th District reached a record high and Senator Sanders beat Secretary Clinton by nearly 1000 votes. |
Our HistoryWe worked for months in the summer and fall of 2015 to spread Bernie's message, recruit volunteers, register and re afiliate voters, raise funds for the campaign and gather to watch Bernie's live addresses and Democratic debates.
As the winter took hold, we traveled to New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts to knock on doors as grassroots canvassers detailing Bernie's work and platform to undecided voters. Letter writing campaigns to local editors and speaking engagements to district Democratic Town Committees became focused outreach efforts. In the spring, we phone banked daily during the week to Connecticut voters and canvassed all weekend long for nearly eight weeks. On days leading up to the primary, we devoted ourselves to double shifts in order to Get Out The Vote. |
